First view west into Utah Valley (Indian Flats in the foreground)

 

Although today is not the day to seek far vistas from the mountaintops.  Standing at the saddle I take a long look from south to north.  Below me the west face of Timpanogos is in its full autumn splendor.  But thick smoke mutes the colors and diminishes the impact.  The valleys are lost, and nothing is left of the far mountains but a hazy blue shape sketched against the dirty white horizon.
