Tiny details

 

The glories of autumn are not confined to trees and large bushes.  Even the tiniest plants combine to paint scenes of exquisite shape and color.

While shooting these close-up pictures I stop to take a drink.  After a few pulls the water stops flowing.  I've reached the end of my supply.  Oh, well.  I am most of the way down, and I have a bottle of water waiting in the car.  The evening is cool, and I have stayed well hydrated.  And my pack is a lot lighter now than when I started up the trail.

Still, I hate running out of supplies.  It means I haven't really planned everything properly.

Of course, on this hike I already know that.
