Puppy Love

Mom and Scott were out shopping a few weeks ago and came across a bargain they couldn't resist.  She's a cuddly black Labrador, just big enough to be separated from her mother.  By the time Dad got home, everyone was in love!  The family settled down to discuss a name, and Dad foolishly suggested "Natasha".  The family agreed that would be a great name.  But where there is a Natasha, there must also be ...

... Boris!  He joined the family the very next day.  Boris is a "tiny" poodle, which means that he'll only be about 6 pounds full-grown.  He's about a month older than Natasha.  When they first met, Boris and Natasha were almost the same size.  But Natasha is GROWING!

In just a few weeks she's more than tripled in size.  Boris can now run right under her belly without ducking!  Though they'll no doubt make an odd couple, Boris and Natasha are inseparable friends.  Natasha sleeps with her head pillowed on Boris, and if he wakes up first he'll curl up on her back.  They tease each other incessantly.  Natasha loves to grab a chew toy and then pull it just out of Boris' reach.  He'll chase her all over the kitchen!  And both dogs love to slide on the oak floor.

Sometimes Natasha will grab one end of a chew rag, then get Boris to grab the other end.  When he does, she'll tow him all over the kitchen!

Boris and 'Tasha are both getting lots of loving.  We're trying hard to house-train both of them.  Since it's so cold out, they're both going to be "in the house" dogs.  By the time spring comes, we should all be used to one another!

The only dissenting family vote has come from Cleo.  So far she's tolerating the invasion, but she definitely hasn't warmed up to her new housemates.  When she encounters the dogs outside she simply melts away into a bush or up a fence.  She doesn't bother to come into the house, but she won't allow them into her garage!

It's been a long time since we've had a dog in our house.  We're having a great time laughing and wrestling together.  The next time you drop by, be prepared for some puppy loving!
