An Email from Holly (From Orlando, Florida on August 23, 2004) Hi Dad, Thanks for the letter and happy anniversary. I really didn't forget and I am glad that you and mom are doing something fun to celebrate. I had fun last year doing the little gathering and I really couldn't believe that it has already been a year since I did that with my sisters. (Also that means it has been a year since I had my knee surgery!!!) Things are going good here. We have spent a lot of the week just getting to know the ward and trying to meet some of the people that the elders had met. Also, we did some clean-up. Mostly people have gotten the yards clean (which is all I can help out with) and now they are waiting on the chance to get people to come and fix fences, roofs, windows and such. Lots of that I have no experience in and I can't really help them out. Also, I was able to be present when Lina got baptized on Saturday. That was really great. I am so glad that she has made this step. I was sad that I won't be in the ward to see her grow but the elders in the ward now are good and I know they will make sure that she gets the fellowshipping that she needs. Things otherwise are pretty much the same. I love the people in this new ward already. They mostly are so excited to have sisters. They say it has been seven or eight years and they are giving us a nice warm welcome. I am so glad that I am able to be here and that I will get the chance to help this ward get even more involved. I love you lots and it means so much to me that you are all behind me and looking out for me; and especially praying for me. Lots of Love, Sister Holly Boo P.S.: I was sorry to hear that Olympics are not being well attended. I am sad that I am missing them. I really didn't even think of that being a sacrifice when I came but I guess I will have to look forward to the next set in 2 more years and 4 years. I know that I loved seeing the SLC games and Greece is such an amazing setting. I hope that people are at least enjoying it on TV. P.S.S. I have a doctrinal question that we
have been debating. When you are paying your tithing are you supposed to pay it
based on the check you receive, or on the total you made (before taxes and
such)? And if you own a business what do you include and exclude when
figuring out how much tithing to pay? This is a point we are trying to teach but
don't know the answers for sure, and I figured that you might. Thanks so much.
Lots of love and hugs.
