A Letter from Holly

(From Lady Lake, Florida on May 31, 2004)

Hi Dad,

How are you?  Did you like the email I forwarded?  I just thought it was so funny.

I had a fun Memorial Day.  We were given a full day preparation day (9:30 am to 9:30 pm) to celebrate May and all the hard work.  I took Sister Caldwell & Sister Caldwell (yes, that is a lot of fun) out to play miniature golf.  Since we are in the heart of Kissimmee the area covers highway 192; one of the main roads to Disney World.  It has several tourist attractions.  We went and played miniature golf at a place called "Pirate's Island."  It was really fun.  I think I got a little sunburn but hopefully not too bad.  It was a lot of fun.  We all get along well and laugh a lot.  Hopefully, my new companion (Sister Thurgood) and I will get along well too.

While we were playing one of the games there was this adorable family playing ahead of us.  They were having fun and cheering each other on.  It really warmed my heart to see that kind of family unity.  It reminded me of all the good times I've had with our family.  Do you ever play your guitar for the boys?  Having you play for us and read to us is one of my favorite memories of the family being together.  In the mission one of the things they really are encouraging is to seek out and teach whole families and not just one person.  I know that it is true that families really are the eternal unit of the gospel and what helps to bring us all closer to Heavenly Father.  I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of eternity with the family.

Elder Thomas (my Leesburg zone leader who came to lunch) was telling us the other day about the meeting the zone leaders got to have with Elder Gilespie from the area authority seventies.  He said that one thing he really stressed ws the importance of white shirts and how special it is for young men to continue wearing white shirts to church always after their missions.  As he talked about that I realized that I had never remembered seeing you go to church wearing a shirt of any other color.  I was grateful again for that example and the little things you do to show obedience to the gospel standard.

I love you lots.  Give all the boys my love.  Have a great first week in June.

Lots of love & hugs,

Sister Holly Boo

P.S.  Did you ever see the Book of Mormon movie?  People have asked me about it several times (mostly members) but I don't really know anything about it.  Love you lots.  Have a great summer.
