What is it?

What is it?
Is it merely an
Ascension and descension
Of harmonic oscillation?
A patterned series of
Sonic vibrations to
Caress the auditory organ?
Or is it a spell?
A bewitching form of
Sorcery that can
Soothe the savagery
In Man? Or stir
Him to Heroic deeds
To be lauded and put
To more witchery?
But yet, is it
Expression? An art
Form that reveals the
Very core of that
Abyss called the
Human Soul?
And what of Achievement?
Is this not a meter of
Talent and Accomplishment
Well garnished by Practice?
An eloquent medium for
Display and Performance?
What is it?
That can be measured by
Science, can ignite the
Emotions, plumb the depths of the
Soul, and provide grandiloquent
Virtuosity? What is it?
Music.
